Enabling radio (cellular or wireless) communication on a DMP panel involves physical installation of a cellular communicator/receiver and programming via a keypad or remote software. The exact steps depend on the specific panel and the type of communicator being used
Physical Installation
First, the appropriate cellular communicator or wireless receiver must be physically installed inside the panel enclosure.
- Install the hardware: This typically involves mounting the communicator, connecting the provided wiring harness to the panel’s radio port or specific terminals (e.g., ECP bus for universal communicators), and attaching the antenna.
- Power Cycle: The panel may need to be powered down and back up after installation for the panel to recognize the new hardware.
- Wireless Receiver (for wireless zones): If enabling communication with wireless zones, a wireless receiver (e.g., 1100 Series) is installed and connected to the panel.
Programming the Panel
Once the hardware is installed, you need to program the panel to use the communication path.
Via keypad
- Enter Programmer Menu: At the keypad, enter the code 6653 (PROG). You may need to reset the panel first if it has been more than 30 minutes since the last programming session.
- Navigate to COMMUNICATION: Press the CMD button repeatedly until the Communication menu option is displayed.
- Select Communication Type: Use the top-row select keys to choose the desired communication type, such as Cell or Net (for cellular/network dual path).
- Configure Settings: Follow the prompts to enter specific details, such as:
- Account Number
- IP Address (if applicable)
- Phone Number of the central station receiver (for digital dialer or Contact ID backup)
- Save Programming: Press the CMD button until Stop displays, then press a top-row select key to save the changes.
Via Remote Link/Dealer Admin Software
Alternatively, an installer or dealer can activate and program the cellular communication remotely using the DMP Remote Link or Dealer Admin software.
- Access Customer System: Navigate to the customer system within the software.
- Add System/Connection: Add a new system or select the existing one, choosing Cellular or
EASYconnect +Cell Backup as the connection type. - Enter MEID/SIM: Input the communicator’s MEID or SIM number found on the device’s label.
- Activate & Test: Select a rate plan and click Activate. The software also offers a “Test Connection” feature to confirm proper communication.
Enabling Wireless Zones (Radio Communication for Sensors)
If you are trying to enable communication for wireless sensors (transmitters), you must program a House Zone in the panel.
- Enter Programmer Menu: Enter
6653(PROG) at a keypad. - Navigate to SYSTEM OPTIONS: Press CMD until
SYSTEM OPTIONSis displayed. - Set House Code: Program a unique
HOUSE CODEbetween 1 and 50. This code allows the panel and the wireless devices to recognize each other. - Save and Exit: Press CMD until Stop displays, then press a top-row select key to save.
- Perform a Wireless Test: Use the diagnostics menu 2313 to run a WLS (wireless) test to confirm signal strength and connectivity for all devices.
