Program the on-board triggers on Vista 21

To enable and program the on-board triggers (Trigger 1 / Output 17 and Trigger 2 / Output 18) on a Honeywell Vista 21iP, use an alpha keypad to enter programming mode with [Installer Code] + 800. Next, use menu *79 to map the output as normally low, and menu *80 to set the specific trigger event (such as arming status or alarm activation).

Enter Programming and Map Triggers (*79)

  • Enter your Installer Code followed by 800 on your alpha keypad (the default installer code is usually 4112).
  • Press *79 to enter the output mapping menu.
  • Enter 17 (for Trigger 1) or 18 (for Trigger 2), then press *.
  • Set the initial state. Enter 1 to make the output normally low (or 0 for default normally high), then press *.
  • Enter 00 and press * when finished mapping outputs to exit *79.

Program Trigger Behavior (*80)

  • Press *80 to enter output definition programming.
  • Enter a 2-digit rule number slot (e.g., 01 for your first rule) and press *.
  • Press * past the summary screen, then select what activates the trigger: enter 2 (activated by zone type) and press *.
  • Enter the desired Zone Type number (for example, 21 for Armed Away, 20 for Armed Stay, or 33 for a burglary alarm) and press *.
  • Select the partition (0 for any partition) and press *.
  • Choose the output action (e.g., 2 to stay closed while active) and press *.
  • Enter the output number (17 or 18) and press *.
  • Enter 00 to exit *80, then press *99 to exit programming mode safely.
