DSC Power Series: Wireless enrollment

To program a wireless device on a 1616, 1832, 1864 system, you need to access the Installer’s Programming section and manually enroll the device’s electronic serial number (ESN). This process requires a wireless receiver module (like the RF4164-433) to be already installed and enrolled in the system.

Programming Steps

  1. Enter Installer Programming: At the keypad, enter *8 followed by your Installer Code (the default is often 5555 or 1234, check with your installer if default is not working). The keypad will indicate you are in programming mode.
  2. Access Wireless Programming Section:
    • For wireless keys (fobs), enter the reference number 001300 to go directly to the “Enroll Device” section.
    • For wireless zone devices (sensors), enter section 804.
  3. Enter Zone/Device Number:
    • For zones, you will be prompted for a three-digit zone number where the device will be assigned.
    • For wireless keys, the system will automatically display an available key slot (e.g., WKEY #XX).
  1. Enter the ESN (Serial Number):
    • Locate the serial number on the back of your wireless device.
    • If the ESN is six digits, enter it directly.
    • If the ESN is five digits, enter a 0 followed by the five-digit number (e.g., 012345).
    • Some eight-digit serial numbers may require entering 00 first.
  2. Confirmation: The panel will provide a triple beep to confirm the serial number has been successfully enrolled.
  3. Exit Programming: Press the # key repeatedly to exit the current menu and eventually exit programming mode.
  4. Test the Device: Verify the device is working by testing it (e.g., opening and closing a door/window for a contact sensor).

Important Notes

  • System Version: Manual enrollment is typically the standard method for power series systems, especially versions 4.5 or older.
  • Module Enrollment: Ensure your wireless receiver module is properly enrolled and connected to the system Combus before attempting to add individual devices.
  • Documentation: Refer to your specific device’s manual or the power series Programming Worksheets for specific zone definitions and advanced options.
