Install piezo on Honeywell Vista 21

To connect a piezo sounder to a trigger on a Honeywell VISTA-21iP, wire the positive piezo lead to Auxiliary Power (+) (Terminal 5) and the negative lead to a trigger pin (Output 17 or 18). Then use keypad programming (*79 and *80) to define when the trigger pulls low to sound the device.

Wiring the Piezo

  • Connect the positive wire of the piezo directly to Terminal 5 (Aux Power +) on the VISTA-21iP main board.
  • Connect the negative wire of the piezo to Trigger 1 (Output 17) or Trigger 2 (Output 18) on the panel’s trigger header.

Note: Ensure your piezo draws minimal current (Trigger 1 handles more capacity, while Trigger 2 is limited to about 20 mA).

Programming the Trigger

  • Enter programming mode on your alpha keypad by typing your [Installer Code] + 8 + 0 + 0.
  • Map the output using menu mode *79: enter output number (17 or 18), program it as normally low (0).
  • Set the activation event using menu mode *80: assign the output function, choose the trigger event (such as system chime, arming status, or alarm), and save.
  • Exit programming by entering 00 in the menu prompts and then *99 to exit programming.
