Vista: How to program house code

On a Honeywell Vista, the “House Code” is a two-digit identifier used to allow the panel to communicate with bi-directional wireless devices (like the 5827BD or 5804BDV fobs). You must enable this through the system’s programming mode.

  1. Enter Programming Mode:
    • Enter your Installer Code (default is 4112) followed by 800.
    • If you don’t know your code, use the backdoor method: Power down the system (battery and AC), power it back up, and press * and # simultaneously within 50 seconds.
  2. *Navigate to Field 24:
    • Once in programming (the screen should display “Installer Code 20” or just “20”), press *24.
  3. Enter the House Code:
    • The keypad will prompt for the code for each partition.
    • Partition 1: Enter a 2-digit number from 01 to 31.
    • Partition 2: Enter a 2-digit number (if used).
    • Common Partition: Enter a 2-digit number (if used).
    • Note: If you only use one partition, enter the 2-digit code for the first and then press * to move forward..
  4. Verify the Entry:
    • To view what is currently programmed without changing it, press #24. The keypad will flash the digits one by one.
  5. Exit Programming:
    • Press *99 to save and exit. *Do not use 98, as it can lock you out of programming mode.

Important Considerations

  • Interference: If you have neighbors with similar systems, ensure your House Code is unique to prevent their devices from triggering your panel.
