How to address 6160 keypad on Vista 21

To address a Honeywell 6160 keypad on a VISTA-21iP system, you must configure the address on the keypad itself and then ensure that address is enabled in the control panel’s programming.

Step 1: Set the Keypad Address

Every keypad on a VISTA system must have a unique address between 16 and 23.

  • Enter Addressing Mode: Within 60 seconds of powering up the keypad, press and hold the 1 and 3 keys simultaneously for about three seconds.
  • Clear Current Address: The screen will display CON ADDR = XX. Press 00 to clear the current address (usually the factory default of 31).
  • Assign New Address: Enter the desired 2-digit address (e.g., 16 for the primary keypad).
  • Save and Exit: Press * to save the address and exit the menu.

Step 2: Enable the Address in Panel Programming

    1. Enter Programming: On your primary (already working) keypad, enter your Installer Code (default is 4112) + [8][0][0].
    2. Access Keypad Fields: Use the following fields to enable additional addresses:
      • *190: For Address 17
      • *191: For Address 18
      • *192: For Address 19
      • *193: For Address 20
      • *194: For Address 21
      • *195: For Address 22
      • *196: For Address 23
    3. Configure Partition: After entering the field (e.g., *190), enter [1] to assign the keypad to Partition 1, followed by [0] for standard sound suppression (beeps for all events).
    4. Exit Programming: Press *99 to save and exit.

Note: If you are using a 6160RF (with a built-in wireless receiver), you may also need to enable the receiver in the panel, typically at address 00.
