Adjusting your 2GIG security system—whether it is the classic GC2, the advanced GC3, or the modern Edge—to arm in “Stay” mode with No Delay (often called “Instant Arming”) is a critical configuration for nighttime safety. This feature ensures that if a perimeter door or window is opened, the alarm sounds immediately rather than providing a 30-second entry delay for someone to enter a code.
Transitioning your system to this “Instant” state can be done directly from the panel’s interface or through a mobile application, depending on your setup.
Method 1: Direct Panel Adjustment (Most Common)
On nearly all 2GIG touchscreens, the “No Delay” option is a toggle located within the arming menu. This is the fastest way to change the setting for a single arming session.
- Access the Security Menu: From the main home screen of your 2GIG panel, tap the Security button.
- Navigate to Arming: Tap the Arm button to see your primary arming options (Stay and Away).
- Disable Entry Delay: Look for a checkbox or toggle labeled Entry Delay.
- To achieve No Delay: You must uncheck or toggle this box to OFF.
- Confirm Stay Mode: Once the Entry Delay box is unchecked, tap the Stay button.
- The system will now arm in “Instant” mode. If any door is opened, the siren will trigger immediately without any countdown.
Method 2: Using the Alarm.com App (Remote)
If your system is connected to Alarm.com, you can set this remotely. Note that the interface logic in the app is often the inverse of the physical panel.
- Open the App: Navigate to the “Security” or “Arming” section.
- Toggle “No Entry Delay”: In the app, you typically need to check a box labeled No Entry Delay (the opposite of the panel’s “uncheck Entry Delay” logic).
- Select Stay: Tap the Stay icon to send the command to the panel.
Method 3: Permanent Configuration (Zone Programming)
If you have a specific door (like a back door or basement door) that you never want to have a delay on, regardless of how you arm the system, you must change its Zone Type in the installer settings.
- Access Installer Toolbox: Tap the 2GIG logo in the corner, enter your Installer Code (default is 1561), and go to System Configuration.
- Locate the Sensor: Find the specific zone you wish to modify.
- Change Sensor Type: Change the Zone Type from (01) Exit/Entry 1 or (02) Exit/Entry 2 to (03) Perimeter.
- Save and Exit: Perimeter zones always trigger the alarm instantly, even if the rest of the system is using a standard delay.
