2GIG: Remove a Z-Wave device

To remove a Z-Wave device from your 2GIG panel, you must put the panel into exclusion mode and then activate the exclusion function on the specific Z-Wave device. This process clears the device’s old network data, making it ready to join a new network.

The steps vary slightly depending on your specific 2GIG panel model.

For 2GIG GC2 Panel

  1. Access Z-Wave Services: From the home screen, go to Services > Z-Wave > Wrench icon.
  2. Enter Installer Code: Input your Installer Code (default 1561).
  3. Activate Exclusion: Press Remove Devices. The panel will display “ready to remove a device”.
  4. Trigger Device: Activate the exclusion function on the Z-Wave device (check its manual).
  5. Confirm Removal: The panel beeps twice and confirms successful removal.
  6. Exit: Press Back or Home.

For 2GIG GC3 or Edge Panel

  1. Access Smart Home Settings: From the main screen, go to System Settings (or gear icon).
  2. Enter Installer Code: Input your Installer Code (default 1561).
  3. Activate Exclusion: Select Smart Home Settings > Remove Devices.
  4. Trigger Device: The panel enters exclusion mode. Activate the exclusion function on the Z-Wave device as per its manual.
  5. Confirm Removal: The panel will confirm the device has been removed.
  6. Exit: Press Done or Home. 

If the Device is Defective or Lost

If a device is lost or defective and shows an error icon, you may be able to use a “Remove Failed Device” or “Delete” option through the panel’s menu or the Alarm.com app/website.
