Qolsys IQ4: Disable a tamper

To disable a tamper alert on a Qolsys IQ Panel 4, you can either physically resolve the issue by re-securing the hardware or use administrative settings to bypass the electronic reporting of the tamper state.

Method 1: Disabling via Software Settings

This method is useful if the physical tamper switch is damaged or if the panel is temporarily unmounted and you want to prevent constant trouble beeps.

1. Open the Menu: On the main home screen, swipe down from the top to reveal the settings tray.

2. Access Advanced Settings: Tap Settings, then select Advanced Settings.

3. Enter Code: You will be prompted for a code. Enter the Installer Code (default: 1111) or Dealer Code (default: 2222).

4. Navigate to Security Settings: Tap Installation, then select Security & Arming.

5. Toggle Panel Tamper: Scroll down to find the option labeled Panel Tamper. Uncheck the box or toggle it to Disabled.

Note: If disabled, the system will not trigger a “trouble” condition while disarmed, but it may still trigger an alarm if the panel is opened while the system is armed.

6. Save and Exit: Tap the Home or Back arrow to save your changes and return to the main screen.

    Method 2: Physical Resolution (Recommended)

Since a tamper alert often signifies that the panel is not securely attached to its backplate, fixing the physical connection is the most secure long-term solution.

    • Align the Backplate: The IQ Panel 4 has a small black tamper switch near the bottom-right corner. Ensure the backplate is snapped on tightly so that the plastic post (often with a foam tip) fully depresses this switch.
    • Tighten the Locking Screw: Locate the small Phillips head screw on the bottom edge of the panel. Tightening this ensures the panel remains flush against the wall mount and keeps the tamper switch engaged.
    • Clear the Message: After fixing the hardware, the alert might still appear as a “Trouble” notification. Tap the envelope icon in the top-right corner of the screen, select the alert, and tap Acknowledge or OK to clear it.

Method 3: Remote Disabling (via Alarm.com)

If you are a professional dealer or have access to the service provider portal, you can disable this remotely.

    • Partner Portal/MobileTech: Log into the account, go to Remote Toolkit > Command Catalog > Alarm Settings and change the Panel Tamper value to Disabled.
