Brivo system requirements

Brivo system requirements include an Ethernet network connection with outbound HTTPS (port 443) enabled on the firewall, minimum bandwidth (Cable/DSL compatible), and CAT5 or higher cabling with RJ45 connectors. For door stations, a PoE switch with internet access and specific cable types like Cat6 and OSDP reader cable are needed.

Other requirements include proper firmware, device settings, and for specific integrations, API keys and high-level admin permissions.

Network requirements

  • Ethernet connection: A 10/100 Base T Ethernet LAN is required at the site to connect the control panel to the internet.
  • Internet access: The control panel must have a stable internet connection to communicate with the Brivo Hosting Center.
  • Firewall: Outbound HTTPS traffic on port 443 must be allowed on the firewall.
  • Bandwidth: Minimal bandwidth is required; Cable/DSL compatibility is sufficient for standard operation.
  • DHCP: DHCP is recommended for IP address assignment.
  • Cabling: CAT5 or higher Ethernet cabling with RJ45 connectors is necessary.

Door station requirements

  • Cabling:
    • Cat6 cable: Connects to a PoE switch that has internet access.
    • OSDP reader cable: Connects to the OSDP port on the Brivo panel.
  • Switch: The Cat6 cable needs to connect to a PoE switch with internet access.
  • Firmware: The Door Station requires firmware version 1.0.4 or greater.
  • Power: The Cat6 cable connects to a POE switch. Some panels require the RS485 EOL (blue switch) to be disabled.

Other requirements

  • Control Panel:
    • The minimum panel firmware required to apply schedules to doors is 5.0.16 or higher.
    • Panel configuration must match the reader type (e.g., RS-485 OSDP).
  • Integrations:
    • An API key, Client ID, and Client Secret are needed for integrations.
    • An account with “super admin” permissions is required to access location and employee data.
  • Credentials:
    • Mifare Classic or Mifare DESFire EV3 credentials are recommended for Allegion integration.
    • Credentials must have 30-bit Wiegand support.
