Vista: Program duress code

To add a duress code to a VISTA system, first disarm the system. Then, enter your master code, followed by the number 8 on the keypad and the two-digit user number you want to assign (e.g., 03). Finally, enter the four-digit duress code you want to use, and the keypad will beep to confirm the addition.

Add new user

  1. Disarm the system.
  2. Enter your master code (Default is 1234).
  3. Press the 8 key.
  4. Enter the two-digit user number you want to assign (e.g., 03 for user 3).

For instance, on Vista 21, we would add the “duress user” to slot 32 because it’s the last user on partition 1.

Example: 1234 8 32 4321

We opted to use the duress code 4321 because the master code is 1234. It’s easy to remember since it’s simply the master code reversed.

  1. Enter the desired four-digit Duress Code.
  2. The keypad will beep to confirm the code has been added.

To set the duress code to activate a silent alarm

  1. Disarm the system.
  2. Enter your Master Code.
  3. Press the 8 key.
  4. Enter the two-digit user number you want to assign (e.g., 03).
  5. Press the # key, then 1, then 3
  6. Enter your four-digit duress code.
  7. The keypad will beep to confirm
