Napco Gemini – Change master code

To change a user code on a Napco panel, you generally need the master code and access to the keypad. Enter the master code, then navigate through the programming menu by pressing the function and bypass keys until you reach the user code menu, where you can select the user slot and input the new four-digit code. For a forgotten master code, a factory reset may be necessary, but this clears all system codes and requires reprogramming.

General Steps to Change a User Code

  1. Enter Programming Mode: Input the master code.
  2. Activate Programming: Navigate the menu using the function and/or bypass keys until you see an option like “activate programming” or “user programming”.
  3. Confirm Entry: Press “Yes” or the corresponding key to enter the programming mode.
  4. Select User Code: Use the function or next keys to find the user number for the code you want to change.
  5. Enter New Code: Type in the new four-digit code.
  6. Save Changes: Press the “on/off” or “bypass” key to save the new code.

If You Don’t Know the Master Code

Check for Default Code:

For some Gemini panels (e.g., GEM-P816, GEM-P1632, GEM-P1664), the default master code may be printed on the PC board itself.

Factory Reset or Replacement:

For some panels, a factory reset may reset the code to the default, but for others, it may require replacing the EPROM chip or the entire control panel.

Default Master Codes (Examples)

GEM-P816, GEM-P1632, GEM-P1664: 456789
GEM-P3200, GEM-P9600, GEM-X255: The 6-digit code on the sticker on the PC board.
